Dr. Carol J. Yancy


Dr. Yancy is number 11 of 12 children born to the late John H. Jones and late Mildred A. Jones. She is the twin sister of Connie. She is married to Bruce E. Yancy and is the mother of two daughters; Krisna – 31 and Amber – 27. She received her Bachelors degree in Middle Grades Education with a concentration in Science, Health, and Physical Education from Paine College in 1990. In October 2001, she completed her Master’s Degree in General Education with a concentration in Administration and Supervision from Troy State University. In August 2005, she earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Education with a specialization in Elementary and Secondary Administration from Capella University. 

 

On June 30, 2021, Dr. Yancy retired with 30 years of service with the State of Georgia - Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) where she was a teacher, lead teacher, principal, curriculum specialist and director of assessment. Prior to retirement, she was the Education Supervisor at Richmond Education Transition Center (DJJ). On her continuous quest to save our children she fostered a partnership with the Augusta Partnership for Children and Derwin Jackson Ministries/ The Experience. 

 

In March 2012, this Hidden Figure chased her Vision of becoming a Master Cosmetologist. She is now a licensed master cosmetologist and a nationally board-certified trichologist. She is the owner of Root Cause Hair Loss Restoration Clinic, LLC. She currently works for the Richmond County School System and she is a commissioner for the Richmond County Housing Authority.

She is currently active in several Community Organizations. She is a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and a former recipient of the B. I. Vernon Scholarship.
